Hucknall Byron Festival 2019
Programme of Events
Friday, 5 July
10.00am - Byron themed Market High Street; some outdoor, light entertainment, too.
12.30pm – FREE ENTRY - Music in Quiet Places by Torkard Ensemble in St Mary Magdalene’s Church. Some poetry reading will follow as will a tour of the Church by Richard Jackson, Church Guide. Later, there will be a talk by Ralph Lloyd-Jones entitled ‘Byron and his animals’.
Saturday, 6 July
10.00am to 2.00pm – Judging of the Poetry, Painting & Photography competitions will take place and the winning pieces will be displayed in the Church Hall at All Saints Church Annesley, along with a Craft/Book Fair. FREE ENTRY Refreshments available,.
10.00am to 3.00pm – Hucknall Market on the High Street will host various entertainment for families, all courtesy of Ashfield District Council.
7.00pm – A Byron themed Quiz Night will be held in The Sweet Cafe on High Street, Admission £2 and £1 per person to take part in the quiz. Alcoholic drinks and nibbles will be available to buy and there will be music by an acoustic guitar player. Maximum number will be 45 people.
Sunday, 7 July
10.00am – Shuttle bus running all day between Hucknall Library and Newstead Abbey; last bus will leave Newstead at about 4.30pm, sponsored by Nottinghamshire County Council. At Newstead there will be displays of classic cars and motor cycles all day. 2.00pm in the Victorian Kitchen there will be children’s story reading and a tour of the Victorian Kitchen. Have-a-go Archery will also be there, miniature train rides, bouncy castle, children’s fairground rides, etc. Musical entertainment will be by Acacia Radio with Lucas Jackson and colleagues, all day. There will be food vans and a beer & drinks van, too. Tours of the house will cost £1 for each person having a Ticket, on the day, from the Acacia Radio Stage. Food will also be available from the cafe at Newstead Abbey and there will be an ice cream van, too.
7.00pm – The finale will be ‘Hucknall’s Got Talent’, Showcase This was an amazing show last year and is back by popular demand. Entry to the event is FREE, and the bar will be open. The event will be hosted by Phil Rostance so why not come along and show us what you can do.
